Goooood wonderful new week y'all! I sure hope everyone is doing well! And, as my grandma always says, if you're not, then you get that way soon!
News:
So I'm loving this new area Gama Centro! The people here are great and so is the weather (thank goodness). As always, it's a new area and a new way of doing things, but that's what makes it so great. And as always a new companion makes things different. Elder Naylor is awesome, love this guy. We arrived in the mission at the same time, although he went to the MTC in Sรฃo Paulo and I went in Provo so we didn't meet until now. Being with an American companion is a pretty nice, but strange at the same time. There's a lot more tendency to speak English, but we'll just keep in falando portuguรชs. Being back in Brasilia area is also quite nice. There's a lot more access to things and, surprisingly, things are a little less expensive here. And being far enough from actual Brasilia, the people here are also pretty open to Jesus!
The work & People:
I already love the people here that we've met and that we're already teaching and everything. Like I said before, the people here are fairly open to talking to two foreigners talking about Jesus, which is refreshing. There's a lot of people that we're meeting with that just love the church and really looking forward to more messages and going to church more. There's this one kind old lady Zenilda: she talks about 100 mph about 100 different things and is just a nice old lady. She just has a few doubts, but really would like to get baptized, too! And then there's a few teenagers that we're teaching that are quite interested in our messages and it's really good to see younger people so interested in following Jesus.
Menu:
It's been a good week as far as cooking, too. One day we didn't have lunch so we made breakfast burritos. And then we also made peanut butter cookies, again. They were fire. And then this morning we made banana pancakes with whipped cream: 10/10 all the way. Today for lunch we went to Frango no Pote (chicken in the pot) and it was good. Chicken is good. And oranges. We have oranges. Oranges make a missionary happy. ๐
Spiritual thought:
Okayyy soooooo I was thinking about Mercy today, (As of 2 minutes ago), so let's talk about it! What is mercy? Goooood question. "Mercy is the compassionate treatment of a person greater than what is deserved, and it is made possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ." (Topics and Questions.) Soo, mercy is really important. Because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we can be forgiven of our sins and be perfected in Him. But not only is mercy for forgiveness. Every gift that God gives unto us is a merciful act. "...all things which are good cometh of Christ; otherwise men were fallen, and there could no good thing come unto them." (Moroni 7:24) We don't deserve what our Father gives us, but He gives it unto us nonetheless. Because He loves us. He wants to help us. And He desires that we do the same as well. We are admonished to "...love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful." (Luke 6:35-36). He simply asks us go act as Jesus would, be kind to all and show mercy all around. Enfim, love one another y'all. It's literally the second greatest Commandment other than loving God. There's not a whole lot more you can do than that. We've just gotta love y'all. Love like Jesus, and want good things for those around us. God loves y'all. Know that! He does! (He loves youuuu ๐ซถ). I know that's true. And I love yall too! I leave this spiritual thought (rant) in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. (Love y'all ๐ซถ).
